Luís Guimarães is Executive Board Member and Chief Commercial Officer at Banco Português de Fomento, a position he has held since April 2025. At the public development bank, he is responsible for the areas of Wholesale Banking, Investment, Credit, Project Finance, Guarantees, and Internationalization.

With more than 15 years of international experience, he built much of his career at HSBC, where he held senior leadership positions across several regions. He served as Chief of Staff for South Asia in Singapore, Head of Transformation for Europe in London, and Managing Director and Head of Strategy, Sustainability, and Public Affairs in Latin America, leading restructuring, growth, and ESG strategy implementation projects.

Before joining HSBC, he was part of EDP’s Corporate Strategy team, working directly with the Board of Directors on investment and expansion projects.

He holds a degree in Management from Nova School of Business and Economics, attended Università degli Studi Roma Tre under the Erasmus program, and is an alumnus of the German School of Lisbon.
