Germano Almeida was born on April 30, 1978, in Porto, Portugal. He is an international affairs commentator for NOW, where he hosts the program Guerra e Paz (“War and Peace”) since January 2025, focusing on global politics and security issues. He is also a columnist for the Sábado magazine.
From 2020 to 2024, he served as an international politics commentator for SIC and TSF, and authored the program Decisão América (“America’s Decision”) on SIC Notícias between July and November 2024. In 2024, he was also a regular contributor to Diário de Notícias, writing columns every Tuesday and Sunday.
He is the author of seven books, six on U.S. presidencies and one on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and co-author of the podcast Radar USA, produced in partnership with Ana Rita Guerra. A specialist in U.S. politics since the 2000 presidential election (Gore/Bush), he was awarded a FLAD Fellowship to cover the 2012 U.S. presidential election (Obama’s re-election).
Germano Almeida holds a degree in Communication Sciences from NOVA University Lisbon (Faculty of Social and Human Sciences). He completed the Defense and Security Course for Journalists (2013) and the Advanced Studies in Geopolitics program (2023–2024) at the National Defense Institute.
