Camerata Atlântica

The Camerata Atlântica is a string ensemble founded in 2013 by violinist Ana Beatriz Manzanilla, its artistic director, who conceived the project with the aim of creating a versatile and excellent formation. Composed of 11 professional musicians as its core group, the Camerata adjusts its size according to the repertoire being performed.

Since its debut, it has established itself as one of the most active and prestigious string ensembles in Portugal, performing regularly on major stages such as the Centro Cultural de Belém, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Teatro Nacional de São Carlos, Festival das Artes de Coimbra, Festival ao Largo, and the International Piano Week of Óbidos, among many others. Internationally, it has performed in several Spanish cities, including Madrid, Vigo, Cádiz, and Burgos.

Camerata Atlântica has continuously promoted Portuguese music, performing and premiering numerous works by national composers, several of which were written especially for the ensemble. In 2021, it released the CD Bows Up! under the Naxos label, dedicated to Portuguese music of the 20th and 21st centuries, and made available on digital platforms the world premiere recording of Duas Melodias by Luíz de Freitas Branco.
