António Calçada de Sá
President of the Board, Portuguese Diaspora Council | Portugal

António Calçada de Sá is currently the Managing Director and Vice-President of Fundación Repsol, with primary responsibility for developing and executing projects and “New Ventures” related to the “New Economy Low Carbon” and Social Impact initiatives. All these projects complement and reinforce the company’s Corporate Responsibility and its commitment to the ESG strategy.

Until January 2019, António Calçada was a member of the Downstream Executive Committee, CEO of Repsol Comercial (RCPP), Chairman of Repsol Portugal, Chairman of Air Miles and member of the board of several Repsol Group subsidiaries (Petrocat, Canary Terminals and Gespevesa).

As an executive managing director of the Repsol Group, for years he led the Retail, Distribution, Commercial and Marketing businesses in several countries: Spain, Portugal, Italy, Peru and Mexico. Previously, he led the retail and commercial businesses in Brazil and Argentina, which gives him a very broad vision of the European and American markets and cultures, with special focus on Latin America.

António Calçada de Sá began his career in the 80s at the American multinational Exxon. There, he worked in various sectors and markets (Spain, Portugal, Italy, and North Africa), ranging from chemicals and petrochemicals to fuels and lubricants.

He is the current chairman of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in Spain, and in 2012, received the “Iberian manager of the year” award from the Luso-Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Lisbon.

He was decorated in 2014 by the President of the Portuguese Republic with the Ordem Nacional do Infante D. Henrique with the title of comendador (commander) for services to Portugal as a citizen and as an executive of Repsol.

António Calçada de Sá holds a degree in Chemical Engineering (Industrial Area) from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) in Lisbon, having subsequently obtained an MBA from IE Business School in Madrid and Managing Corporate Resources at IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland.

He is one of the founders of the Diaspora Council and has been a member since 2012. Currently on the Portuguese Diaspora Council, António Calçada de Sá serves as Chairman of the Board of the Council.
