António M. Feijó is Chairman of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation since May 2022.
António M. Feijó is a Professor in the Department of English Studies and in the Theory of Literature Programme at the School of Arts and Humanities of theUniversidade de Lisboa.
António M. Feijó was Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities, Vice-Rector and Pro-Rector of the Universidade de Lisboa. He was also Director of the Universidade de Lisboa Press and of the University Magazine.
António M. Feijó holds a PhD in English and North American Literature from Brown University (1985) and an MA in English and North American Literature from the State University of New York at Albany (1979).
António M. Feijó has written books and essays on topics in English, North American, and Portuguese Literature, as well as translations and stage dramaturgies (Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, Hamlet and King Lear; works by Oscar Wilde and Fernando Pessoa, inter alia).
Among his most recent publications are Uma Admiração Pastoril pelo Diabo (Pessoa e Pascoaes), Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda, in 2015; a slightly altered version of his translation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, in 2016; A Universidade como deve ser, with Miguel Tamen (Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation, 2017); and, in 2020, O Cânone, of which he was one of the editors and authors.
António M. Feijó has curated exhibitions on literature (Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, 2008) and at the Cupertino de Miranda Foundation (2018, in collaboration).
António M. Feijó was Chairman of the Independent General Council of RTP.
António M. Feijó was a Non-Executive Director of the Casa de Mateus Foundation.
António M. Feijó was a Non-Executive Director of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (2018-2022).
